Every single person I have ever encountered is seeking prosperity, whether they realize it or not. It’s something we can’t help but want; a universal desire that emanates from the core of our beings. Like many, I came to these teachings because I sought greater financial abundance. True prosperity, however, has nearly nothing to do with how much money you have. Rather, it begins within, with our internal attitudes and perspectives. We have multitudes of examples in our society of people who have sought and gained financial abundance, but totally lack the experience of prosperity and instead feel empty. When we set our internal attitude to that of prosperity, we become a magnet for all we want and need.
Yogi Bhajan gave three laws for prosperity that, when practiced, have the ability to totally shift our perspective and invoke major prosperity in our lives.
- Be Kind to Everyone
- Speak Not Ill of Others
- Speak Not Ill of Yourself
“Your wealth will increase, your values will increase, your projection will increase, if you simply love to live, just love yourself and live yourself.”
When we are practicing unkind thoughts and actions towards others, we are subconsciously reinforcing the belief that there isn’t enough - enough success, enough money, enough followers - for all people. Social media makes it all too easy for us to scroll through the lives of others under the guise of inspiration and connection, when in reality, most of us are simply gathering the source material for our subconscious to berate us with later (whether we can admit it to ourselves or not). Fully expressing our beings with our hearts wide open, in loving kindness to all, allows us to open up our energy flow in a massive way, giving us the ability to effortlessly magnetize that which we seek. It has been said that one of humanities biggest issues today is that we are not receptive enough. The energy is out there. The prosperity is out there. The abundance, the love, the joy - it’s all there for us. If we are not receiving it, it is because we have blocks in place that keep it from effortlessly flowing in. Through devoted practice, you can remove these blocks and allow for the fullest expression of your infinite being.
"The first principle of life as a human is to be loving. You must meet people. You must receive people. You must talk to people. You must share your wisdom with people. If your love is true and true is your love, then all that is in the Universe belongs to you. Love first, everything will come to you."
But if we’re speaking ill of ourselves, it’s an entirely different (and common) subconscious pattern. To degrade ourselves is to say that we are unworthy, that we do not deserve the success, the goodness, or the money. We effectively close ourselves off to the divine. Yet, it is only a block - one that you are more than capable of busting through.
“There are three mantras you should never say: I don’t know. I’m not ready. I can’t do it.”
